Sunday Ride, Post Sea Otter Weekend

"Undisclosed" Trail
Distance:
14miles
Elevation: 6,300ft descent
Time: 2:40.57
Effort: Shii, are we talkin the soft ass trail, or freakin overgrown scrubs?....it kicked my ass. I just kouldn't get over my self.
Brian Exposure meter: "Big at times, like 60-80%"

Brian Long of S.D. came up to join us for this one. Yes indeed, he strolled up the 70miles to Murrieta with his VooDoo attached to his Suzuki.

At our drive way he discovered every bolt was loose on his contraption (which he made that morning). Appearently people were taking pictures on his ride over as the bike was rattling in the winds of that day.

Views from the top at pretty much the beginning of our 14 mile descent. That would be be Palm Springs below and Gorgonio in the cloud cover. Brilliant!

Brought to you by our wonderful host, the SingleSpeed Maniac

The weekend started out with Brian and I driving up to Idyllwild where Dave, Yumi, and Brian shared beer, beer, PBR, and then samples of Yumi's very strong, very interesting, Plum wines....until 1am. I played with the kids mostly, and the gerbal, till 1am. Good times.

Up early and out with the cars down the 243hwy for the shuttle run. Very windy day.

Exposure seemed to be the special word of the day.

This trail was brutal for me.

Soft.
Rocky.
And overgrown.

There was plenty of healthy carnage to go around as Dave would say.

Brian by the way is an amazing rider.

Finished with smiles.

After we make our way up back the mountain , Dave and Brian head to Project X, the local down-hill track, while I prepare to meet them at the artschool.

While they road, or likely walked, I went to the market and set myself up to GOURGE.

Pizza.
Fries.
Sugar with coffee and cream.
And the biggest cinnamon roll I have ever eaten.
It was whole wheat.
All for under $8.00

I did get one more ride in.
And it was grand.
Thanks Dave for not letting me puss out.
I needed some sort of redemption.

See you next week Brian!

What do you think Marmu? Will we see him some more?

I think so.

  1. Wow, now THAT's determination to go cycling. I loved the pictures of Brian's contraption! I would have loved to have seen that in person. Paul would get a kick out of it too. Question is, did it hold out long enough for him to get back home?

Overall, sounds like another awesome time for ya Velocitramp! :)
