Yet with all the rain from that one day, relatively very, very little mud on the course.
But there was wind.
Yes indeed.
Robert warmed up despite the rain, preparing for the miserable onslaught of the Short-track event.
Only to be postponed 3 hoooours later.
Ultimately, not raced.

Chrissy too, good warm-up, postponed around 2hrs later.
No short track for me boys and girls
the clouds let up for just a few moments (just a few), and I dashed for my car, where I cooked lunch, and slept.

The contents in the jet boil by the way was very Spicy! Indian chai tea. Nigel page was quoted as saying, "that's the bollacks, that is, isn't it?"
Warm in a my Kilo.
Dry.
Sunday was great!
High high winds.
Big big field.
I lined up with Rob, Denton close by.
We take off, not that bad for a road start. Didn't suck so bad.
Opening descent.
40 riders jockeying for position from a high speed fire road to a bottle-neck single track.
Water bottles are seemingly blown one after another off of every bicycle.
Like popcorn.
yeah. Popcorn.
I along with them. Serious cross wind. Keeping a line on this descent was so difficult for me while trying to maintain the same speed.
So anyway, I ran over a water bottle which tore my rear tire's sidewall.
Opening speed craze. I was out of contention or in any position at the very beginning of the XC race. Rob and Denton, you are on your own.
For some reason I decided to give chase, and rode at an intensity the exceeded my limits (I haven't been training for this kind of riding), and proceeded to bonk.
A much funner way to ride!
Hahhhaahahah!
Got to meet a lot of cool pro women too!
I meet Katie Compton, we hung out for awhile. We're practically homies!
Sea Otter was a good time. Yes, It was a good time.
Met Jeff Kerkove. We're practically homies too! Yup. Have a good season Jeffrey. We'll be in touch buddy.
Of course, seeing Pua is always a treat! Talk about one inspiring
What I learned from the Sea Otter Classic was this...I like to ride my mountain bike. I like to actually experience the ride itself, however. The intensity required to race a short course like that at a competitive level, does not facilitate such an experience. It is a type of riding that no longer fulfills my needs.
Thus, the evolution shown by my current schedule.
Moving on....
WE ARE MOVING!
The Sahrfrog and I, Velocitramp,
Are moving to Flagstaff, Arizona.
3 months.
More to come.
Now that's what I'm talking about...
ReplyDeleteHoly hell, I heard there was rain, but that downpour looks biblical! Ok, so you got soaked, blown and hosed all in one day. Sounds like you had fun man, thanks for bringing the high life home. You're blog is the shizit. So you've and Sahar have finally decided to leave the valley. I'm glad she's able to pursue her goals just as you've yours. It's great that you support one another so well. I'm gonna miss you two so much. Hmm, maybe you should have a big old bru-ha-ha before you go.
no, you are the S-to-the-H-to-the-I-to the ZIT...wait that didn't work out too well.
