I Made It! Over the Snowy Passes

Indeed.
I am here.
In a Starbucks near Stockton, CA I sit.

From the moment I awoke at the hot springs in Bridgeport it had been snowing and it continued until I reached the final crest were it was obvious that there would only be descending.

I and the bike made it and in one piece, uh- respectively.
I even came off with a full-on endo, discovering myself sliding on my rear end in the sitting position along side my noble steed, stopping conveniently in front of a large truck with a very large man. This wonderful large man first gave me a hug and then assisted me in picking up the beast.

Only one crash, I promise.

I lost my camera, probably during the said slide. No pics of the hot springs. No pics of the epic mountain passes and snow blown roads. But I have my memories and hopefully the opportunity to recount the experience all day tomorrow in San Fransisco.

It will be a Thanksgiving indeed.
How many lives do I have left?

  1. Jesus Mary and Joseph!! I have to find out about this by reading your blog??!? You'd better not keep living dangerously, or I'm going to put one of those leashes on you that they put on little kids who wander off at the store. Jeez. Oh, well. We'll get another camera. That one had 9 lives, too.

Call me ASAP dude. And start being safer, for the love of Sahrfrog.

  2. Glad you made it through... I'm planning on riding through that part of the Sierra Nevada this time next year on the final leg of my round the world ride for charity...

I saw Tioga Road closed early this year and was wondering how to cross the Sierra Nevada without resorting to the Interstate...

Enjoy the rest of your ride...

Omg... ok, I'm just glad you are safe and in one piece. Cameras can always be replaced, you my dear brother, can't.

Be safe and enjoy the ride and the scenes. We can't wait to see you.

    Love you Dave
